Have you ever been woken up at 7 or 8 in the morning by someone talking on the phone? Well, that was me today. Because Erica, Olivia, and I slept downstairs, we were awoken by my parents on FaceTime (or Skype, I’m not really sure) talking to our family in the Philippines. See, this would have been okay, except for the fact that when my parents video chat, it seems like their voices become three times louder than usual. Groggy and a little cranky, I woke up, said bye to Olivia because she had to go home early, and went back to bed to avoid video chatting early in the morning.
When I actually got up around 9, Erica had woken me up because she wanted me to wash her hair. She had slept with the wet, dyed hair in a bag for the whole night and was antsy to get the bag off. I went with her to the laundry room and washed her hair in the sink. The final product is the featured picture. Sometimes, I think I should drop out of normal school and become a hairdresser. Sure, I’d still have to go to school, but it would be way less school. Though at this point, I feel like I’m too far in to quit now.
We didn’t really have anything planned for this Memorial Day, so we just watched The Price is Right. Close to the end of the episode, my mom asked whether anyone had ever won both showcases at the end of The Price is Right. At the end of the show, the guy WON BOTH SHOWCASES. I don’t know if my mom is psychic or whether it was a coincidence. Okay, it was PROBABLY a coincidence.
After the show, we kind of started to cook brunch. The thing is, we all did different things. My dad had just come back from the store and was making food to store in the freezer. My mom was cooking bacon for me, Erica was cooking grilled cheeses, and I put cream cheese and jam on a bagel and was eating it. Obviously, you can see who ISN’T the chef in the family. Because everyone was cooking, I ate a lot for brunch. I not only ate my bagel, but also half a grilled cheese that my mom didn’t want and A LOT of bacon.
Our parents wanted us to do some spring cleaning and because it’s still spring, I agreed. Erica and I spent hours cleaning out our old toy closet upstairs. We found a lot of games that I’d forgotten about like the Shrek version of Operation. Also, we found a lot of our old schoolwork. My sister and I were forced into Chinese school when we were younger; we literally learned nothing. I only know some Mandarin because I took classes in college, and Erica only remembers how to count to three. It’s weird, though, because we had such good scores on our work that we found, but I guess that just means we were good at fooling our teachers.
After we were done cleaning, we watched TV for a bit before Erica went to go practice her violin. We stopped watching an episode because she had to go practice; honestly, it’s because my mom agreed to play a board game with us if Erica practiced. After Erica was done, my mom was still doing something, so Erica and I played this cookie game where you used spoons with suction cups on them to pick out ingredients from a pile. It’s a mess of a game, but it was kind of fun playing it after years of not playing it. When my mom was done, we played this different version of Clue where the characters are spies. It was okay; I’m not sure if my mom liked it though. She was super distracted.
At 10 pm, Erica went to bed like she always does and the rest of us watched The Amazing Race before bed. I was really tired after, which is why I’m pretty behind on posts. I just went to bed; I don’t even really remember at what time (LOL).
