07/01/17 – I’m Low-key a Hoarder

Today’s TV

  • The Walking Dead 1.1, 1.2
  • Family Feud

It was Saturday, and I was planning to sleep in, but I ended up waking up earlier than usual. I woke up at 7:45 before rolling over and going back to sleep. I actually got out of bed at around 9. I went downstairs to see what my family was up to.

My mom told my sister and me that we had to clean our rooms because she had guests coming over. I don’t know why she expected her friends to come into our rooms, but my guess is that she was just using them as an excuse. She and my dad went out on a long walk with our neighbors while Erica and I were left to clean.

I’m low-key a hoarder, so I had a lot of stuff to go through in my room. Erica and I labelled some bags for trash, recycling, and donation to make things easier. First, I went through my clothes. I finally finished unpacking my luggage; I’ve been home for almost two months. I put all my clothes in my closet and put some clothes in the donate bag.

I wanted to rearrange my room, so I had to go through all of my stuff to move things around. I looked through all the papers and books that I had in my room. I sorted image-1-151.jpg
through pictures that I had hanging on the walls. I took a picture of an old poster I had from elementary school. My friends and I took a picture at the EMP museum, and I can’t believe I still had it. We’d gone on a field trip to a music museum and they had a photo booth type room where you could pretend to be in a band with your friends. We were named Sewer Rats because, I remember, one of my friends loved rats.

Cleaning made me so tired. I ended up moving literally all the shelves in my room to different places. While looking through papers, I found old music sheets from middle school. Also, I had like four copies of each piece we played in high school. The weirdest thing is that I remember returning the music; maybe I’m just going insane. I also found the 1000 paper cranes that I folded in middle school. I never got around to getting rid of them, so they were just in a box. I finally got rid of them, but not before reading some of the notes I folded the cranes with. I was a weird middle-school child, but wasn’t everyone?

Even before my parents came home, Eunice came to our house. We were going to have a sleepover because, the next day, we were going hiking. Eunice helped us finish cleaning Image-1-16our rooms and helped us arrange our things. She really liked interior decorating, and she’s pretty good at it too. Soon after, my parents came home. My dad helped me move the rug in my room to the garage. Finally, my room was clean.

We had dinner downstairs as a family before Eunice, Erica, and I just sat on the couch and did nothing. We watched Family Feud and talked for a while. At some point, we started playing Scrabble and watching The Walking Dead. At around 11:30 pm, we went upstairs to go to bed. Eunice and I blew up the air mattress for her to sleep on and Erica moved her stuff onto my bed. We were all really tired, so we fell asleep pretty quickly.
